The agreement is ready, the terms are settled, and only the signature remains. This step can now begin in Doqubit - documents created in Doqubit can be signed electronically with eParaksts. During signing, the user is redirected to eParaksts and then returns to Doqubit to download the signed EDOC file. This makes the entire process - from choosing the right document and entering the required information to reviewing and signing the completed document - more connected and convenient.
As Doqubit founder Līga Andrejeva explains: “Introducing eParaksts is an important next step in the platform’s development. From the beginning, we built Doqubit with the goal of making document preparation as simple and understandable as possible. We wanted people not to have to search for documents themselves, guess which terms they should contain, or work out how to format everything correctly. As the platform developed, it became clear that the next logical step was to make document signing more convenient as well, so that the whole process would be available to the user in one place. Introducing eParaksts makes it possible to complete a document in the Doqubit platform. The entire process is now even simpler - the user can move from the initial agreement to a completed and signed document in one convenient and understandable process.”
What is an electronic signature?
An electronic signature makes it possible to sign documents digitally and connect the signer to the contents of the document. Under EU law, a qualified electronic signature has the equivalent legal effect of a handwritten signature.
An electronic signature is not simply an image of a handwritten signature pasted into a document. A qualified electronic signature uses secure technology that makes it possible to verify the signer and determine whether the document has been changed after signing.
A practical advantage of electronic signing is the ability to handle the entire document workflow remotely. The parties do not need to be in the same place to print and sign a document in person - it can be prepared, reviewed, and signed digitally. This is especially convenient when concluding agreements or preparing other documents between parties located in different cities or countries.
An electronic signature does not replace any special formal requirements that apply to a particular transaction. If the law requires notarization or another specific form, that requirement must still be followed.

How eParaksts works in Doqubit
When a document has been prepared in Doqubit, it can be signed electronically with eParaksts. The user starts signing from the document summary in Doqubit, confirms their identity and authorizes signing in eParaksts, and then returns to Doqubit to download the signed EDOC file. The current signing flow is started and completed by one authenticated user.
In practice, this provides several benefits:
- Fewer file-handling steps - the document does not need to be downloaded, uploaded again, or forwarded solely for signing.
- A clearer final version - the version used for signing is the document that has already been reviewed.
- The ability to verify the signature and document - the validity of the electronic signature and whether the document was changed after signing can be checked.
- More convenient remote collaboration - the document can be signed even when the parties are in different locations.
This is especially useful when a document needs to be agreed and signed by both parties, for example when concluding a residential lease or sale agreement, a vehicle purchase agreement, a renovation agreement, or a handover act. These and other documents can be prepared in Doqubit and then sent through the eParaksts signing process. The current Doqubit signing flow is started by one authenticated user; if the document requires several signatures, the remaining signatures must be added separately. This makes the process faster and more convenient, with fewer unnecessary steps.
From guided questions to a signed document
Doqubit’s document workflow starts before the document itself is generated. Users do not begin with a blank file or have to guess which terms to include. Guided questions collect the information needed for the specific situation, such as party details, the subject of the transaction, amounts, deadlines, payment arrangements, and other essential terms.
The process is sequential:
- Choose a document - select the document type that fits the situation.
- Provide the required information - answer focused questions about the transaction and its terms.
- Review the result - check the generated document and correct any information if necessary.
- Agree the contents with the other party - make sure the document reflects the agreement between the parties.
- Sign electronically - once the contents have been agreed, signing can be started in Doqubit and confirmed in eParaksts.
The introduction of eParaksts adds a clear final stage to the existing document preparation process. In one connected process, the user can move from collecting the necessary information to a completed and signed document.
Fewer file transfers and less risk of mixing up versions
A familiar versioning problem begins with a file named "agreement.pdf", followed by "agreement_revised.pdf", "agreement_final.pdf", and eventually "agreement_final2.pdf". When several people review the document, it can quickly become unclear which version is actually final.
The fewer documents that need to be downloaded, saved again, and forwarded, the less likely it is that this kind of confusion will arise.
This is especially helpful when an agreement must be completed quickly, such as for a residential lease, a vehicle sale, renovation work, or the handover of property or a vehicle.

Which Doqubit documents can be signed with eParaksts?
The option to sign documents with eParaksts applies to all documents available in Doqubit, making it possible to create and sign documents needed for a range of everyday transactions in one process. The platform includes, for example, property lease and sale documents, vehicle sale agreements, renovation agreements, various handover acts, and other documents for common situations.
This is especially convenient when one transaction involves several related documents. For example, a residential lease may begin with a lease agreement and later require a handover act when the property is transferred. Similarly, a vehicle sale agreement can be accompanied by a handover act recording the actual transfer and condition of the vehicle.
Electronic signing is especially convenient when the parties are not in the same place or part of the agreement is settled remotely. For example, a landlord and tenant can agree the main terms and sign the lease before the keys are handed over. A vehicle buyer and seller can likewise prepare and sign the sale agreement in advance, even if they meet in person only later.
For renovation work, the scope, price, deadlines, and other terms can be recorded and signed electronically. After the work is completed, a handover act can also be prepared and signed digitally, so the final stage of the transaction does not need to be handled on paper.
Doqubit electronic signing is useful not only for signing an individual document, but also for organizing the entire transaction process - from the initial agreement to performance and recording the handover.
An electronic signature saves more than paper
Electronic signing is often associated with avoiding document printing, but one of its greatest everyday benefits is the time saved and the ability to conclude an agreement faster.
To sign a document, the parties do not necessarily need to be in the same place at the same time. This is especially useful when a property owner is in another city, a vehicle buyer and seller cannot meet again, or a service provider handles documents remotely.
Sometimes speed also matters. For example, if a buyer and seller have already agreed on the sale of a vehicle, both parties may want to formalize the agreement as quickly as possible so that it is clear who the vehicle is to be sold to and on what terms. Electronic signing makes this possible remotely, without waiting for the next in-person meeting.
There is no need to schedule a separate meeting solely for a signature, print several copies of a document, or maintain a paper document workflow. The agreement can be prepared and signed digitally, making the entire process faster and more flexible.

Doqubit - from an idea to a completed agreement
Doqubit is not merely a place to create a document. The platform is designed to make the entire agreement process simpler and easier to understand - from choosing the right document to completing and signing it.
Users do not have to search the internet for the right document, design its structure, guess which questions should be covered, and then look for a separate place to sign it. Doqubit guides them step by step from the initial agreement to a completed document in just a few minutes, and now also to electronic signing. Fewer unnecessary steps, fewer files, and a clearer process for both parties.
